    GENERAL

FRAMER'S CHOICE synthetic roof underlayment must be installed above properly ventilated spaces as per local building codes, and is considered to be a vapor barrier at 0.06 perms (3.32 ng/Pa/s/m2).

The roof deck must be swept clean of dirt and debris and be smooth, solid and dry prior to installation.

FRAMER'S CHOICE roof underlayment is limited to use with roof coverings that do not involve hot asphalt or coal-tar pitch.

FRAMER'S CHOICE roof underlayment can be exposed for no more than 4 months.

    EAVE PROTECTION

The eave of the roof must be protected with the appropriate number of courses of self-adhered polymer modified bitumen membrane as required by the applicable building code.

    SLOPES

FRAMER'S CHOICE roof underlayment can be used on slopes of 2:12 or greater.

Low slope (2:12 to 4:12) - Apply MIDWEST roof
underlayment flat to the roof deck horizontally (parallel to the
eave) printed side up overlapping for a double layer application
60 cm (24 in.) and a minimum end lap of 30 cm (12 in.) over the entire roof surface.

Steep slope (> 4:12) - Apply FRAMER'S CHOICE roof underlayment horizontally (printed side up). Overlap each course - Apply FRAMER'S CHOICE roof underlayment horizontally (printed side up). Overlap each course 10 cm (4 in.) horizontally with end laps overlapped a min of 20 cm (8 in.). Repeat the same overlapping design from course to course over the entire surface of the roof.

    FASTENING

FRAMER'S CHOICE roof underlayment can be nailed by hand or by using a pneumatic nailer. Nails with 2.54cm (1 in.) plastic or metal caps which must be driven flush to the underlayment.

Same day Roof Completion - Galvanized roofing nails or staples No. 16 ga stainless steel staples with a minimum 1.1 cm (7/16in) crown may be used to nominally attach FRAMER'S CHOICE roof underlayment to the desk assuring that sufficient fastening is applied around high traffic areas to protect the integrity of the membrane.

Long Term Exposure - FRAMER'S CHOICE roof underlayment is formulated to resis UV deterioration for a period of up to 3 months. The user is responsible to assure the waterproofing of the membrane by reducing space between fasteners and sealing the joints. For prolonged exposed periods, FRAMER'S CHOICE recommends that fasteners spacing be shortened, 10 cm (4in) or less and that laps should be sealed with low solvent cement meeting ASTM D4586T Type 1.
